PUBLISHING THE CWE BLUEPRINT NEWSLETTER - PART 2
April 15, 2013
*Please allow video to load completely in order to access all features and links.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Purpose: The purpose of this tutorial is to inform volunteers of the processes used to create and publish the CWE BluePrint. CWE, Christians for Worldwide Evangelism, serves around the world. They lead teams of volunteers from the US in assisting foreign missionaries and nationals with their work of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The BluePrint is CWE's semi-annual publication. Its purpose is to promote the ministry of CWE and its associated branches, Christian Medical Services and aquaponics ministry. This publication is published by volunteers and its primary audience is volunteers and supporters. While this tutorial will not replace hands- on training, it is designed to supplement training and to give viewers a somewhat detailed overview of the process of publishing the BluePrint.
OBJECTIVE
For this activity you will be venturing into the world of "Rapid Prototyping."
1. Choose a topic that you enjoy and would like to develop into an online tutorial. Try to use ideas that you will be proud of using as an example in a job interview. Please note: Do not use PowerPoint as a course authoring tool. Some course authoring tools that allow 30-day/15-day free trial downloads: Articulate, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, Camtasia, etc.
2. What should be included in the tutorial?
a) Audio: must have some parts of it that includes audio (your original audio)
b) Branched scenario: must have a screen where learners have to make a choice and the learner is branched to a part of a tutorial
c) Animations (e.g. text or graphics): many of the course authoring tools can create some animations
d) Video: A short original video created by you- between 30 to 45 seconds (no more than that as the file may be too large to upload. Using any free tool you have access to -- you can also use Windows Movie Maker, iMovie or any other movie editing application you have access to. The movie must have transitions, video effect and audio.
e) Screens: tutorial should be no less that 10 screens
f) Quiz: tutorial must have at least one quiz, with no less than 5 questions (you can have more than 1 quiz) g) Interaction: tutorial must contain other interactions besides a quiz to engage the learner on the content (many of the course development activity applications offer many choices)

PUBLISHING THE CWE BLUEPRINT NEWSLETTER - PART 1
PROJECT SUMMARY
Founded in 1991, Christians for Worldwide Evangelism, began its mission of service around the world. CWE leads teams of volunteers from the US in assisting foreign missionaries and nationals with their work of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This mission includes:
- construction of churches, schools, and hospitals;
- medical missions, providing for people in need of physical and spiritual healing, and

HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR USF WEB PAGE
March 11, 2013
PROJECT SUMMARY
One of the benefits to USF students is that they are given personal webspace; however, there seems to be some confusion when it comes to the initial setup of the web page. There are currently written online instructions and contact information to the Help Desk. It would be helpful to have access to a tutorial on the subject that puts all of the information at the student's fingertips.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MAMMALS
February 25, 2013
PROJECT SUMMARY
For this project, I chose to do an Articulate presentation covering some of the basic information in Biology. This presentation allows the student to learn and review the characteristics of mammals. The target audience would be high school students, namely those taking a Biology I course or similar. Material covered includes classification of mammals: kingdom, phylum, and class. Also covered, and primary to the lesson, are four of the basic characteristics of mammals. The presentation includes text, images (photos), and video along with the interactive annotations provided by Articulate Studio 09. At the end of the presentation, students complete an interactive quiz including multiple choice and matching questions. Availability of this type of lesson allows basic principles to be taught in a manner interesting to the student. It also allows for review and repetition as needed enabling the instructor to dedicate his or her time to teaching more difficult concepts.

Job Performance Aid
PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT
January 28, 2013
PROJECT SUMMARY
Our family owns a construction company that specializes in insurance restoration (fires, floods, storms, mold) and remodeling both for residential and commercial buildings. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor sets safety standards for our employees that we are all expected to follow. The employees take awareness classes that explain the standards, one of which is the use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Once back on the job, workers tend drift away from taking these safety precautions. The management team at Green Construction Services determined that it would be helpful to have PPE information posted in the warehouse as a reminder to all workers of the importance of continued use of proper safety equipment.
OBJECTIVES
After completing this assignment, you should be able to: Apply basic rules of photography to create new instructional photo. Describe the Gestalt psychology principles affecting image interpretation. Effectively manipulate visual elements (e.g., fonts, colors, etc) to generate attractive visual images. Apply the features and capabilities of a professional image editing program (e.g., Photoshop Elements) for creating multi-layered digital images * Also be aware of the differences between vector and raster graphics.
DIRECTIONS
After studying this, you should be able to: Use Photoshop to create a color display printed on 8 x 10 photo paper. Your display will serve as a job aid assisting users to overcome a human performance problem identified by you.
